COBB Short Ram Air Intake Subaru WRX (2002-2007) WRX STI (2004-2007) with or without Airbox

COBB Short Ram Air Intake Subaru WRX (2002-2007) WRX STI (2004-2007) with or without Airbox

Fitment Information

  • Subaru WRX GD Sedan / GG Wagon AT / MT (2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007)
    • Fits Both Manual and Automatic Transmission
  • Subaru WRX STI GD (2004, 2005, 2006, 2007)
    • Fits Manual Transmission Only

This Air Intake is compatible with USDM vehicles only.  The 2002–2007 Subaru WRX and STI are usually known by chassis codes, GD (sedan) and GG (wagon). Commonly, these cars also get nicknames based on their headlights: Bugeye (02–03), Blobeye (04–05), and Hawkeye (06–07).

Emissions Compliance

  • 50 State Legal - This part is legal for sale and use on Emissions Controlled Vehicles in all 50 states when used in accordance with the manufacturer's application guide because it has a California Air Resources Board (CARB) Executive Order (EO) number:
    • Intake: D-660 / D-660-102
    • Airbox: D-660-106

Specs & Features

  • Composite Cool: Molded from advanced High-Temperature Plastic Composite, which rejects under-hood heat far better than aluminum or steel piping—keeping your intake temps low and power high.
  • Science of Flow: Features a CFD-designed Velocity Stack and Airflow Straightener Grid to smooth out air turbulence for precise MAF readings (say goodbye to erratic idling).
  • Best of Both Worlds: The included SF Airbox isolates the filter from hot engine bay air while shielding it from water—safe for rain, deadly for heat soak.
  • Plug & Play: Engineered to work harmoniously with your factory MAF sensor, eliminating the "dead spots" that plague cheaper intakes.
  • Ready to Run: Comes with a Pre-Oiled Filter and the essential Post MAF Hose, making installation a breeze with simple hand tools.

Product Description

Subaru owners know the struggle: you want the induction noise and throttle response of an open intake, but you don't want to suck in hot, stagnant air or risk hydrolocking your engine in a puddle. The COBB Tuning SF Intake & Airbox System is the engineering answer to that compromise. By replacing the restrictive factory airbox with this high-flow system, you allow your turbo to breathe freely, resulting in faster spool and that addictive induction "woosh" you bought a turbo car for.

Stop buying metal intakes! Metal is a heat conductor—it gets hot and stays hot, warming up the air before it even hits your turbo. COBB uses a custom Composite Body that acts as a thermal barrier. It keeps the intake charge cool, meaning denser oxygen and more consistent power, even when you're sitting in traffic.

Many aftermarket intakes cause turbulence that confuses the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor, leading to rough idle and check engine lights. COBB solved this with a built-in Velocity Stack and a unique Airflow Straightener Grid. This straightens the air stream before it hits the sensor, ensuring your ECU gets accurate data. It’s performance without the headache.

COBB Tuning sets the standard for Subaru induction for a reason. This system utilizes the factory air scoop to feed cold air directly into a protected box, giving you OEM-level reliability with aftermarket performance. It’s the smartest way to add horsepower and sound to your build without compromising drivability.
