Product Description

If you own a 2004-2007 WRX or STI, you know the struggle: you sit in traffic for five minutes, the hood scoop stops feeding air, and your factory Top Mount Intercooler (TMIC) turns into a food warmer. The moment you hit the gas, your intake temps skyrocket and the ECU pulls timing. The COBB Tuning Front Mount Intercooler solves this by moving the cooling core away from the hot engine and straight into the wind.

This isn't a flimsy tube-and-fin core. We use a dense, heavy-duty 3.5" thick Bar and Plate core. It acts like a giant heat sink, keeping your Intake Air Temps (IATs) near ambient levels even during back-to-back pulls. You can choose the Black finish if you want that "if you know, you know" stealth look (it also features a thermal heat-dissipating coating), or the Silver finish if you want to show off that metal behind the grille.

We know that once you go big turbo or big power, the stock Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor becomes a restriction. That’s why we pre-welded a bung for an Intake Air Temperature sensor right into the charge pipe. This makes converting to Speed Density tuning straightforward—no drilling or welding required.

 Installing a front mount on a GD chassis usually sucks because the stock coolant reservoir and washer fluid neck are in the way. Most kits tell you to "figure it out." COBB includes a beautiful, custom Coolant Overflow Tank and a relocated Washer Fluid Filler Neck in the box. We also powder coat the piping in Wrinkle Black to match the intake manifold and hide grease marks, keeping your engine bay looking tidy and professional.
