COBB Short Ram Air Intake Mazda Mazdaspeed3 (2007-2013) with or without Airbox

COBB Short Ram Air Intake Mazda Mazdaspeed3 (2007-2013) with or without Airbox

Fitment Information

  • Mazda Mazdaspeed3 (2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013)

Emissions Compliance

  • 50 State Legal - This part is legal for sale and use on Emissions Controlled Vehicles in all 50 states when used in accordance with the manufacturer's application guide because it has a California Air Resources Board (CARB) Executive Order (EO) number:
    • Short Ram Air Intake Only: D-660-8
    • Short Ram Air Intake with Airbox: D-660-74

Note

The Mazdaspeed ECU is extremely sensitive to airflow changes. All aftermarket intakes require tuning to ensure the engine runs safely. Don't worry—COBB has done the hard work for you. Simply grab a COBB Accessport (sold separately) and flash the corresponding OTS Map from our database. It’s plug, flash, and play.

Specs & Features

  • Cooler by Design: The intake body is molded from a custom Composite Material that resists heat soak far better than metal, keeping intake temps down and power up.
  • Precision Airflow: Features a CFD-designed Integrated Velocity Stack and Airflow Straightener Grid to smooth out turbulence before the air hits the MAF sensor—crucial for smooth idle and tuning.
  • Built to Last: Connects with 4-Ply Steel Reinforced Silicone couplers that won't collapse under high boost vacuum.
  • Tuning Ready: Fully supported by COBB OTS Maps, meaning you can flash a "Stage 1+ SF" map on your Accessport and go drive without needing a custom dyno tune immediately.
  • Optional Airbox: Upgrade to the full system to add a CNC Cut Aluminum Airbox (Wrinkle Black) that shields the filter from radiant engine heat and road debris.

Product Description

The factory intake on the Mazdaspeed3 is a restrictive mess of plastic baffles designed to keep the car quiet. But you didn't buy a Mazdaspeed to be quiet. The COBB Tuning SF Intake is the premier induction upgrade for the Gen1 and Gen2 platform. It replaces the restrictive stock plumbing with a high-flow, short ram design that lets the turbo inhale freely. The result? Faster spool, sharper throttle response, and a massive increase in induction noise—you will finally hear the turbo sucking in air and the bypass valve venting.

Unlike cheap aluminum intakes that just get hot, COBB engineered the SF Intake body using a proprietary Composite Material. This saves weight and, more importantly, resists heat transfer. Inside, we integrated a Velocity Stack and an Airflow Straightener Grid. These aren't gimmicks; they ensure the air hitting your MAF sensor is laminar (smooth). This is critical for the sensitive Mazdaspeed ECU, ensuring you don't get erratic idle or lean spots.

Choose Your Setup

  • Short Ram Air Intake Only: Perfect for the budget-conscious tuner who wants the sound and flow.

  • Short Ram Air Intake with Airbox: The ultimate setup. The added Aluminum Airbox isolates the filter from the scorching heat of the engine bay, sourcing cooler air from the fender well while protecting the filter from water and dirt.

COBB Tuning is the gold standard for Mazda performance for a reason. This isn't just a filter on a stick; it's an engineered induction system designed to work with your car's ECU, not against it. Whether you are chasing dyno numbers or just want to hear that turbo sing on your daily commute, the SF Intake is the first mod every Mazdaspeed owner needs.
